Alien Invasion is the current flag-ship game of Herges Games. It is a extremely fast paced independent 2D shoot-em-up game. The player plays as a secretly developed ship to protect earth from an alien invasion, hence the name. Aliens enter the solar system, and, after decoding of multiple messages on earth, it is clear that the aliens are hostile. The ship is launched, and the player takes the controls. The player's ship is controlled with the right and left arrow keys, moving right and left, respectively. The space-key fires the currently selected weapon. To select the laser as the weapon, press the '1' key on your keyboard or Num-pad. This weapon does damage to the enemy ship, and after the health of the ship is gone, that ship is destroyed. To select the electric-gun, press the '2' key on your keyboard or num-pad. This weapon freezes your enemy for a short amount of time, giving you time to regroup or move in for the kill on a tough enemy. Finally, there is the One-Time-Use Black-Hole generator. This weapon fires a black hole which sucks in your opponent, and as soon as the enemy touches it, they are destroyed. This is a great way to get out of a sticky situation, but use with care, since it is only a one shot. In the bottom left hand corner of the screen is your number of lives left, showing how many more times the enemy can hit you before you lose. Each weapon has a recharge time, which is a delay between shots, as a laser cannot continue firing constantly, since it would overheat, and an electric gun might short-circuit. You can not fire until the weapon has cooled. In the bottom right is the convenient "You can Shoot" Icon, which lets you know when your weapon is cooled.
